It's my birthday today.

I'm 27 and a teacher and for my birthday, my kids in year 11 made me a little model.

Now the thing is that I had nowhere to live at the time and I had turned 27 and just come back from India where I drove across the country on a rickshaw. I was pretty unsettled.

So, because I didn't have a house, my kids made me a model house.



And a model me to live in it.

On the way home, with a big grin on my face like a proud parent I thought I'd do something for them, and get them to do something for me too - a mutual exchange.

Now that I am really happpy in my job here in Madrid I may not leave too quickly. This means that finally I may have found somewhere where I'm happy and this means I may not travel much, which is going to be very strange indeed.

However....

Walking home with a mini-Andy in a mini-house I realised something....

Even though MY wandering days are over, this was not the end...

...but the BEGINNING of a new adventure!

Every weekend, one lucky pupil will be chosen to take mini-Andy on their weekend adventure, wherever they are going. They will have to take care of him, maybe keep him in a specially designed box and make sure his limbs don't fall off.

They have to ensure he doesn't get dirty or lost.

And they have to make sure that the dog doesn't eat him.

mini-Andy will go on all the crazy adventures, holidays and trips that his kids go on and in the course of a year mini-Andy will hopefully cover at least 10,000km.



Every week a new contributor will be added to the blog and they will blog the adventures of mini-Andy, as he makes his way around Madrid, possibly further afield to see other parts of Spain and perhaps even to other countries.
